5. Fill a boiling tube up to ¾ of its length with soil sample X. Fill a second boiling tube to the same level with soil sample Y. tap each tube gently on the bench to settle the soil samples in them. Stand the boiling tubes in a test tube rack and gently add 15cm3 of water in each tube allow standing for 2 minutes.
